    Typing flash cards. Tips for touch typing geography flash cards


    Move only the fingers needed. Remember, only move the one finger needed to strike a key. Do not allow other fingers to wander away from their assigned home-row keys. This is awkward at first and will require will-power, but you can do it! Let your brain train your fingers.

    Magic is not needed. earning how to type is not magic. It requires patience and more practice. Use Nimble Fingers and let the Little Professor be your guide in developing valuable skills.

    Beep! Beep! The computer will provide a beep for an incorrect keystroke. This immediate feedback will assist you in quickly learning the correct keystrokes. Just concentrate on using the correct finger to strike the key.

    Developing keyboarding skills. First, you must have a desire to learn. You cannot learn to type by reading and then banging away at the keys. Second, assistance is needed - for guidance while you learn. Corrective lessons will be needed, and progress analyzed. Let the Little Professor be your private tutor.

    Positive attitude. Learning can be fun. If you have a positive attitude.

    Error reduction. If errors are occurring on the bottom-row keys, move your chair back from the keyboard and slightly raise your wrists. This tutorial will offer numerous suggestions on how to reduce errors.

    Use the correct finger-keystroke. Study the pictures in the Nimble Fingers program to know which finger to use. Whisper each letter before striking the key.

    Type without looking at the keys.   Use a quick stroke to strike each key. Do not “press” or “mash” the key. Strike the key quickly and move on!

    You can do it! You can learn how to type. It just requires practice and Nimble Fingers.

    Type smooth! Type at a smooth, easy pace.

    Locate the home-row keys. Force yourself to use the correct fingers to strike the keys. If you forget which finger to use, look at the picture accompanying the exercise. The beginning exercises are extremely important because you are developing correct keystroke patterns.

    Check your hands! Your fingers should be on the home-row keys and your hands should slant at the same angle as the keyboard. Do not let your wrists become lazy and rest against the desk or the keyboard.

    Re-key an exercise if you are not satisfied. After completing the beginning exercises, using the correct finger should be automatic. If you still have to look at the keyboard when you strike a particular key, rerun the appropriate exercise.

    Fun! I'm having fun! Say it to yourself. Then look over the section on Healthy Typing. You can have fun while learning a valuable skill.

    Finger dexterity. Try the finger dexterity exercises, just for the fun of it. See if you can move your fingers as shown.

    Whisper. Whisper each letter as you use a quick stroke to strike and bounce off keys. Quickly return your finger to the assigned home row location.
