Pay Attention!!

Read these tips. I am sharing my knowledge with you.

Set up a schedule.   Unless you establish a schedule for learning it is all too easy to find an excuse for not practicing. The Little Professor is not promising you a rose garden. It takes practice to develop keyboarding skills.

Do you have an extra fifteen minutes?   Then you can complete a couple of practice exercises. It might not sound like much, but you have helped develop your skills.

Finger placement.   Gently place the fingers of your left hand on the a s d f keys and the fingers of your right hand on the j k l ; keys. Your fingers should be slightly curved. Your wrists should be low but not resting on the keyboard. Your elbows should be close in, next to your side.

Practice, Practice, Practice!   You cannot develop keyboarding skills unless you are willing to practice, starting with the basic keystroke patterns. You are developing motor reflex patterns that enable your fingers to strike the correct keys automatically.

Typing Test Stomp Posture.
Most people remember the importance of using the correct key reaches, but they ignore the importance of posture. If posture changes the distance and angle to the keyboad changes. This changes the finger - key reaches and sound keyboarding skills will not develop.

Sit up straight!   Sit up straight and keep your feet flat on the floor!

Check your hands.   Hands should slant at the same angle as the keyboard. Do not let your wrists become lazy and rest against the desk or keyboard.

Check your fingers.   Are your fingers curved? Strike each key with the pad of your finger, not your fingernail.

Move only the needed finger.   Train your fingers to stay on their assigned home row key. Pivot with the little or index finger for long reaches. Immediately return to the correct home row key.

Tired?   When tired, take a break. Fatigue can result in your concentration wandering. When this happens you are not doing a good job of training your fingers. Practice the exercises shown in this www.nimblefingers.com web site to relieve stress and tension.

Whisper.   Whisper each letter as you use a quick stroke to strike and bounce off keys. Do not press or mush down on the key. Return your finger to the assigned home row location.

Downloadable typing test exercises.   These downloadable exercises are useful in customizing the program to your particular needs. For example, if you are employed in a business using either medical or legal terminology, keying the downloadable exercises, including flash card exercises, will build familiarity with the terms used in the field.

Typing Test - Which exercise would you select?

With Nimble Fingers - Word Wacker and Typing & Data Entry
programs, You select the drill of interest to you.

Here are a few of the many exercises you can download for FREE.

The Busy Fingers program is a simple,
easy-to-use program that does not have downloads.

The exercises are different and are appropriate for that age group.

How about a typing test on carnivorous plants?
Carnivorous plants feed on insects and small animals.
These exotic plants produce food in their leaves by
photosynthesis. The nutrients absorbed and squeezed
from trapped insects allow these plants to thrive in
acidic, boggy soils that lack essential minerals. Some
of their leaves are traps to attract juicy prey.

How about an exercise on climbing?
For the adventuresome with zeal and in physical shape, try climbing
a side of a mountain cliff located inside a building. The actual
climbing structure is made of textured plywood covering a strong steel
"skeleton." There are 7,451 "holes" anchored into the 9,386 square
feet of vertical climbing surface. It is probably visited by ex-bungee
cord jumpers who didn't like bouncing back into reality too quickly.

How about a typing exercise on a new ski clothes?
A revolutionary ski suit for downhill races can produce huge gains in
speed. Trip wires are in the suit's surface. They are made by folding
the material and joining the seams along the length of the fold. These
"wires" on the suit's legs and arms dramatically cut wind resistance.
Prototypes were developed but were quickly banned the next year in
European competition. Judges said the suit penalized those not wearing
the clothing. Only time will tell if they will allow the suit to be worn.

How about an exercise on a klapskate?
A klapskate is a new type of ice skate. The klapskate allows the heel of
the boot to rise and fall while the entire blade remains in contact with
the ice. Engineers examined quadricep muscles for increased speed.
They achieved amazing speed improvements and reduced injuries, which has
made the new ice skate standard equipment for the serious speed skater.
Most Olympic speed skaters would not dream of using the older skates.

Don't you feel you could have fun while learning to type?
